Job Summary

Benton County is actively looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to serve as a Road Maintenance Worker 3.

Job Summary

Operate heavy equipment that requires considerable knowledge of equipment capability, county road system, road system structures. This position is distinguished from the Road Maintenance Worker 1 (Light) and (Medium) classifications by the types of equipment assigned, complexity of work performed, and the level of decision making.

  • This position can be filled at a 2 or 3 level depending on qualifications.
  • Lower-Level Option: The goal is to fill this position as a Road Maintenance Worker 3. However, this position may be filled at a lower level and applicants who meet the qualifications for the Road Maintenance Worker 2 are encouraged to apply.
  • This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies.
  • This recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future vacancies.

Minimum Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

Road Maintenance Worker 2

  • 1 year of technical training beyond high school and;
  • 4 years of experience related to Road Maintenance, Road Construction, Paving, Heavy Equipment operations or closely related.

Road Maintenance Worker 3

  • Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate; and at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in position or specialization.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Please note candidates must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Oregon CDL Class A drivers license with an acceptable driving record (see supplemental question for required documents).
  • Must obtain an ODOT Flagger card within 6 months after hire.
  • Must obtain a First Aid/CPR/AED within 6 months after hire.
