As a team we are committed inspired and connected to make a difference in the community.  What You Will DoAs a Road Maintenance Worker you will perform traffic control duties operate various power tools and maintain vehicles. Working under the direction of a Foreman you will assist with various maintenance tasks while ensuring a safe work environment. The work you do will help to ensure the Countys roadways are kept safe and clear. Essential Duties
• Perform traffic control duties including flagging traffic and setting up traffic control devices.
• Operate various power tools and small equipment such as mowers rollers weed eaters tampers chain saws air compressorsjack hammers. Assist in maintaining equipment and tools.
• Perform maintenance duties such as digging cleaning ditches and drains shoveling and spreading blacktopstone and chips clearing debris removing trash sweeping streets cutting weeds and brush and mowing.
• Maintain vehicles including completing vehicle inspection reports required by Department of Transportation.
• Assist drivers with hooking up equipment and backing of trucks.
• Perform snow removal as needed.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean orderly and safe work environment.
• Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.

• High school diploma or general education diploma GED
• Up to one year of related experience
• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
• Required Licenses and Certifications
• Valid drivers license
• Department of Transportation DOT physical card
• State of Maryland Flagging Certification or must obtain within six months of employment
• Additional Information
• Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
• Will be required to work outside of standard hours.
• May be identified as Essential Personnel during emergency situations.
• Summer hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 600 am &ndash 430 pm. Winter hours are typically Monday through Friday from 700 am &ndash 330 pm.
• Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements

• Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions including but not limited to chemicals noise and airborne particles.
• Frequent physical activity lifting and carrying over 50lbs climbing ladders and steps standingwalking pushingpulling bending reaching squatting stooping kneeling and related activities.
• Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
