This role is ideal for a self-driven professional who is eager to expand their technical expertise, take on increasingly complex challenges, and grow within a collaborative engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering transportation projects forlocal public agencies and jurisdictions, with a strong understanding of roadway design standards, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery from planning through final design.ResponsibilitiesLead or support the planning, design, and delivery of a wide range of roadway and transportation infrastructure projectsPrepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for public agency projectsDevelop roadway geometric designs, grading plans, striping plans, signing plans, and traffic control conceptsCoordinate with internal disciplines including traffic engineering, drainage, utility coordination, environmental, right-of-way, and construction support teamsParticipate in client meetings, technical workshops, and agency coordination effortsAssist with project schedule management, budget tracking, and quality control reviewsSupport proposal development, technical approaches, and scope preparation for transportation pursuitsMentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environmentStay current with evolving design standards, agency requirements, and industry best practicesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field5-10 years of professional experience in roadway designExperience delivering transportation projects for cities, counties, and other public agenciesStrong working knowledge of industry standards, including AASHTO Green Book, Caltrans Highway Design Manual (HDM), and CA MUTCDProficiency with roadway design and modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3DStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced consulting environmentSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and technically curious, with the ability to work both independently and collaborativelyEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. California Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required; however, candidates who are licensed or actively pursuing licensure are strongly preferredExperience supporting a range of transportation projects, such as roadway improvements & re, multimodal corridors, active transportation facilities, traffic calming, ADA accessibility upgrades, and utility coordinationPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is $121,000.00 - $160,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
