Build Roads. Build Pride.

Imagine rolling onto a fresh job site at first light. Cones go up, lines are snapped, launch pads are set, and the crew moves as one—pavers, rollers, brooms, and you—transforming raw aggregate into a smooth, durable surface. If that teamwork and tangible progress energize you, you’ll thrive here.

Your Mission

Support safe, high-quality paving by executing ground-level operations, from preparing the site to perfecting the mat and leaving the work zone cleaner than you found it.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Gather and stage essentials—rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans of release agents—so the crew can start strong.
  • Help set proper traffic control to protect teammates and the public.
  • Deliver water to rollers, plate compactors, the power broom, and other machines as needed to keep production steady.
  • Partner with the foreman to measure and line out the day’s work.
  • Guide equipment operators safely through tight spaces within the work zone.
  • Construct launch pads at the beginning of each pull for the pavers.
  • Place hot mix by shovel and lute it into a smooth, even mat.
  • Back up the screed operator: monitor the head of material, feed to the end gate, and pull mix to the end gate with a shovel when necessary.
  • Eliminate imperfections behind the screed for a high-quality finish.
  • Complete saw cuts in asphalt and concrete as directed.

Craft, Care, and Closeout

  • Keep job and excavation areas tidy throughout the shift.
  • Clean and maintain trucks—exterior, cab, windows, and mirrors.
  • Wash down equipment and tools; clean spray cans; fill tanks at shift end; return all tools/materials to the tool truck for safekeeping.
  • Follow all safety procedures; wear PPE at all times; use the right tools for each task.
  • Report any equipment or tool malfunction to the foreman/supervisor without delay.
  • Bring customer concerns to management promptly and courteously.
  • Take on other tasks as required or assigned.

Tools & Working Conditions

Hands-on construction with significant physical activity—shoveling, laying asphalt, and heavy lifting. You’ll routinely use hand and power tools such as air hammers and plate compactors, along with other equipment and instruments. You may also be asked to drive utility trucks and other moving equipment.
