Robotic Welder Programmer

Technical Metal Specialties is looking to expand their team at New Berlin, WI.

• Create, modify, and maintain robotic weld programs, with primary responsibility on the shop floor and secondary responsibility for off-line programming.
• Access robotic weld programs through the computer system and execute work orders according to specifications.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and correct robotic weld process errors, inconsistencies, and program issues.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, jigs, peripheral equipment, and consumables as specified in robotic weld programs and work orders.
• Fit and position weldments made up of multiple parts using welding fixtures and jigs.
• Adjust and regulate manual welding machines within defined WPS ranges to achieve proper penetration, fill, weld quality, and performance.
• Use basic measuring tools such as rules, squares, protractors, templates, and fixed gauges to verify work.
• Follow prescribed procedures and ensure work meets process, final inspection, and testing requirements.
• Complete required company quality system procedures, department ISO procedures, robotic weld programming training, weld training, and qualification testing.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area while following all company safety and quality standards.

• High school diploma, GED, or HSED required.
• Six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Knowledge of robotic programming through work experience or training.
• Knowledge of welding principles, welding techniques, and basic welding fundamentals.
• GMAW welding certification required.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to access, follow, and execute robotic weld programs.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, weld programs, procedures, and specifications.
• Ability to set up tooling, fixtures, jigs, equipment, and consumables accurately.
• Ability to use basic measuring tools such as rules, squares, protractors, templates, and fixed gauges.
• Strong attention to detail, quality, safety, and process consistency.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and lift or move up to 50 pounds as required.
