    Robotics Advisor (Co-ed) - High School (Grades 9-12)

    Job Description:

    BDHS is home to over 1000 students from Beaver Dam and surrounding communities. The academic experience for our students includes over 165 different course offerings, focused into 13 different curricular teams (i.e. English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Business, Music, etc.). In conjunction with academics, BDHS currently offers over 32 co-curricular activities and 24 sponsored interscholastic athletic teams to extend learning beyond the classroom.

    The BDHS Robotics Program competes in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). Students participating in robotics at BDHS come from a variety of different backgrounds, ranging from beginner-level students with little or no experience to highly skilled programmers, designers, builders, and problem-solvers. All BDHS coaches are expected to be teachers first, incorporating the teaching and modeling of good character, self-discipline, respect, honesty, responsibility, teamwork, gracious professionalism, and perseverance while striving for competitive excellence and also creating a great experience for all those involved.

    Candidates must be licensed to teach in Wisconsin or be eligible for NFICEP certification. Candidates should have an interest in supporting student learning through robotics, engineering, programming, or other STEM experiences and demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with administration, mentors, volunteers, and community partners for the benefit of the entire program. The successful candidate will be expected to build relationships with community volunteers and technical mentors to support student learning and the continued growth of the robotics program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to successfully work with and motivate students.

    Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

    • Experience coaching, mentoring, advising, or working with students in co-curricular activities, STEM-related programs, or other student organizations

    • Interest in supporting student learning through robotics, engineering, programming, or other STEM experiences and a willingness to learn alongside students

    • Ability to recruit, coordinate, and collaborate with technical mentors, volunteers, parents, and community partners to support student learning in robotics, programming, and engineering

    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to organize practices, competitions, fundraising, and program logistics

    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, parents, mentors, administrators, and community partners

    • Overall passion and desire to work with students while building a positive, inclusive robotics program

    Community members with experience in engineering, manufacturing, programming, skilled trades, or other STEM-related fields are encouraged to apply. Individuals who are not licensed educators may be eligible for NFICEP coaching certification.
