Overview
As a Robotics and Automation Instructor, you’ll bring your real-world experience as a technician into the classroom and help prepare students for careers in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, automation, and related technical fields.
We’re looking for an experienced, well-rounded technician with a strong background in industrial maintenance and troubleshooting electromechanical and automated equipment. You’ll teach students how electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems work together, using hands-on demonstrations and practical examples from the field.
You don’t need previous teaching experience. If you have strong technical knowledge, enjoy troubleshooting, and are interested in sharing what you’ve learned throughout your career, we’ll provide the support and training to help you transition from technician to instructor.
Responsibilities
- Inspire and Educate: Create an engaging, hands-on learning environment that helps students develop the technical skills needed for careers in industrial maintenance and automation.
- Provide Hands-On Training: Demonstrate how to operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and electromechanical systems.
- Connect Learning to the Real World: Use your field experience to help students understand how electrical, mechanical, controls, robotics, and automation systems work together in an industrial environment.
- Develop Technical Problem-Solving Skills: Teach students how to approach equipment issues, diagnose problems, and identify practical solutions.
- Mentor Students: Guide students as they build their technical abilities, confidence, and critical-thinking skills.
- Promote Safety: Reinforce safe work practices, proper procedures, and industry standards in the classroom and lab.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent, hands-on experience as a technician in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, automation, electromechanical systems, or a related field. 8+ years of industrial maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Technical Experience: Looking for a well-rounded technician with experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical, mechanical, and automated equipment.
- Strong candidates will have hands-on experience with a combination of PLCs and controls, AC/DC electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, instrumentation, robotics, automated equipment, and industrial networking.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Strong understanding of how multiple systems interact and the ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls-related equipment problems.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, practical way and connect with students at different skill levels.
- Teaching Experience:Not required. We’re looking for experienced technicians who are interested in sharing their knowledge and helping develop the next generation of skilled technicians.
- Patience and Mentorship: A patient, supportive approach and a willingness to coach students as they develop new technical skills.
