What your day looks like

You start by reviewing a client’s robot logic and I/O lists, then translate that information into a robust control configuration and network topology. By midday, you’re building or modifying electrical control solutions, programming PLCs and robots, and shaping intuitive HMIs that make complex systems simple to operate. In the afternoon, you validate designs, document your work, and coach customers through operation and best practices—wrapping up with testing and debugging to ensure a flawless handoff.

Core responsibilities

  • Transform customer-supplied robot logic and I/O databases into complete robot control configurations and network architectures
  • Design and adapt robot control solutions by clarifying project goals, constraints, and technical challenges
  • Research and develop new controls strategies and methods for robotic applications
  • Verify and validate designs to ensure performance, safety, and compliance
  • Create user-friendly HMIs/graphical interfaces
  • Configure and program PLC/robot software and related applications
  • Develop and implement control sequences and interlocks
  • Produce complete system documentation (schematics, code comments, manuals)
  • Deliver customer training and ongoing technical support
  • Execute testing and debugging to resolve issues prior to and during commissioning
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management

Qualifications & experience

We consider any combination of education and/or hands-on experience that equips you to succeed. Typical qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant field experience or equivalent capability
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, and documentation abilities
  • Proven capacity to manage competing priorities and advance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with, or willingness to train in, the following disciplines:
    • Robotics: Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki, Motoman
    • PLCs: Rockwell/RSLogix 5000, Siemens S7, TIA Portal (and comparable platforms)
    • Vision systems: Keyence, Cognex, Teledyne Dalsa (and similar)
