POSITION SUMMARY
As a FIRST Robotics Mentor, you will guide and inspire students in the design, engineering, and programming of robots for competitive robotics events. You will play a crucial role in fostering teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Strong background in engineering, robotics, or related fields (preferred).
Experience with programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Key Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience in mentoring, teaching, or working with youth.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to commit time for regular meetings, events, and competitions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Safety Oversight: Ensure that safety protocols are followed during robot construction and practice, promoting a safe working environment.
Skills Development: Teach students important technical and soft skills, such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.
Resource Management: Help the team manage budgets, procure materials, and utilize tools and resources effectively.
Networking and Outreach: Facilitate connections with other teams, professionals, and organizations to enhance learning and opportunities.
