Our client, is a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a Role Mainframe zOS Support Engineer for their Phoenix, AZ /  Hybrid/Remote location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor zOS system health, performance, and batch processing.
  • Handle severity incidents, service requests, and production issues.
Batch Operations & Scheduling
  • The Mainframe zOS Support Engineer will be responsible for providing end to end support for the FLS project’s mainframe environment.
  • The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, incident & problem management, batch operations, system health checks, and coordination with application and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability and stability of the mainframe ecosystem.
Mainframe Production Support
  • Monitor zOS system health, performance, and batch processing.
  • Handle severity incidents, service requests, and production issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.
Batch Operations & Scheduling:
  • Support JCL executions, batch job monitoring, and troubleshooting ABENDs.
  • Work with scheduling tools (Control M, CA 7, OPCTWS—based on project scope).
System & Application Support:
  • Coordinate with application teams for deployments, changes, and fixes.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of CICS, DB2, MQ, VSAM, datasets, and related subsystems.
Problem, Change & Incident Management:
  • Follow ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management.
  • Participate in CAB meetings and ensure compliance with audit standards.
Environment & Performance Management:
  • Conduct daily/weekly health checks for zOS, CICS, DB2, and storage.
  • Identify system performance bottlenecks and optimize job runs.
  • Stakeholder Communication
