Annual Salary: $34,379 - $46,718

Job Summary

Under direction of the Landfill Supervisor, operates roll-off trucks and related equipment to transport containers, waste materials, and debris to and from the landfill. This position performs skilled driving work and supports landfill operations through safe and efficient transport and handling of materials.

Typical Duties

Vehicle Operation & Transport

• Operates roll-off trucks to transport containers, waste, and materials
• Picks up, delivers, and empties containers at designated locations
• Ensures proper placement and securing of containers

Loading & Disposal Coordination

• Coordinates with landfill staff for proper disposal and unloading procedures
• Assists in loading and unloading materials as needed
• Ensures loads are properly handled and disposed of according to procedures

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

• Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment
• Reports mechanical issues or maintenance needs
• Maintains cleanliness and condition of vehicles

Safety & Compliance

• Complies with DOT, State, and City safety regulations
• Follows safe driving practices and operational procedures
• Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Documentation & Recordkeeping

• Maintains driver logs, trip records, and documentation
• Records loads, routes, and service activities

Coordination & Communication

• Communicates with landfill staff regarding operations and deliveries
• Coordinates with supervisor regarding schedules and assignments
• Responds to service issues and operational needs

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as assigned in support of landfill operations

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating heavy trucks or equipment preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required

Knowledge

• Knowledge of safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment
• Knowledge of transportation and disposal procedures

• Skill in operating roll-off trucks and related equipment
• Skill in safe driving and load handling

• Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Ability to follow instructions and schedules
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff

Physical Requirements

Work involves sitting, standing, lifting, and operating equipment. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in outdoor environments with exposure to weather, waste materials, and equipment hazards. Position may require extended hours and is subject to drug testing.
