A stable, collaborative precision fastener manufacturer is seeking an Roll Threader to join the team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented machining professional with experience in precision fastener manufacturing, strong blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to maintain dimensional accuracy in a production environment. Working under general supervision, the Aerospace Roll Threader is responsible for setting up and operating cylindrical thread-rolling machines to produce threaded fasteners according to print and specification for critical aerospace and industrial applications.

Location: Houston, TX 77035
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Second shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00pm–10:00pm

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate two-die cylindrical thread-rolling machines to produce threaded fasteners such as bolts, studs, and pins to print.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and process sheets, including thread class, pitch diameter, and major/minor diameters.
  • Select, install, and align thread-rolling dies and support tooling.
  • Perform die changes, machine adjustments, and minor repairs as needed.
  • Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using thread plug and ring gages, micrometers, calipers, and optical/comparator equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings such as feed, pressure, speed, part orientation, and lubrication to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and thread quality.
  • Identify and correct common thread defects such as drunken threads, torn material, taper, out-of-round conditions, and pitch errors.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality on new part trials, capability runs, and process improvement efforts.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately, including routers, shop travelers, SPC sheets, and nonconformance tags.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety and quality procedures at all times.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a thread-rolling, thread-form, or cold-heading operator in a precision fastener or metalworking environment required
  • Hands-on experience rolling external threads on bolts or studs in alloy steels and superalloys required
  • Aerospace, turbomachinery, or power-generation fastener manufacturing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with UNJ threads, fillet-rolled roots, and controlled under-head fillets preferred
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T and thread callouts such as UN, UNJ, and metric
  • Proficiency with inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, thread gages, and surface comparators
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills on production machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Steel-toe shoes required; safety glasses provided
