Teammates in this position have averaged $90,000 annually.

Bonus Type: This position is eligible for weekly and annual bonuses.

All Nucor teammates qualify for profit sharing.

Annual Profit Sharing Bonus Percentage (5 year average) = 20% of eligible earnings

Compensation for this position has been averaging $14.35 - $17.13 /hour before our bonus structure. 

Teammates in this role have averaged $36-$43 with our bonus structure.

Basic Job Functions:

  • Safely operate Trim Department roll forming equipment to produce trim components that meet job specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
  • Review schedules, work orders, trim drawings, part details, and verbal or written instructions to determine required material, profile, length, quantity, color, and gauge.
  • Select, verify, and stage the correct coil or flat stock material for production, including confirming color, gauge, width, finish, and material condition before running parts.
  • Set up roll form equipment, tooling, dies, stops, lengths, and quantities to accurately produce trim parts and stock blanks.
  • Perform tooling changes and machine adjustments as needed to run different trim profiles, shapes, gauges, and lengths.
  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts for proper length, profile, angle, color, gauge, finish, scratches, coating defects, and overall conformance to quality requirements.
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, protractors, and gauges to verify part accuracy.
  • Batch like parts, colors, gauges, and profiles when possible, to improve material usage, reduce changeover time, and support efficient workflow through the Trim Department.
  • Bundle, label, stage, and move completed trim parts safely using appropriate skids, carts, forklifts, overhead cranes, or other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Enter or verify required production, inventory, material usage, and quality information in the appropriate system or paperwork.
  • Monitor equipment operation throughout the shift and identify abnormal conditions, machine issues, defective material, tooling concerns, or quality problems.
  • Perform pre-shift equipment checks, basic preventive maintenance, lubrication, housekeeping, and minor adjustments to keep the work area safe, clean, organized, and production ready.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, Group Leads, Maintenance, Quality, Shipping, Receiving, and Leadership to support schedule commitments, product flow, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, changeovers, material movement, stock replenishment, and other Trim Department needs as required.
  • Follow all Nucor and American Buildings Company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, quality standards, and housekeeping expectations at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and business needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to work safely in a manufacturing environment and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Must be able to read and understand production schedules, work orders, part details, drawings, and written instructions.
  • Must be able to accurately use tape measures and basic measuring tools.
  • Must be able to perform basic math, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and working with fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to identify material by color, gauge, width, length, finish, and job requirements.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to safely lift and handle materials within company guidelines and request assistance or mechanical lifting support when needed.
  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts, overtime, weekends, or flexible hours as business needs require.
  • Must demonstrate reliable attendance, strong communication, teamwork, accountability, and a willingness to learn.

Preferences:

  • Previous experience operating roll forming, trim, press brake, shear, slitter, or other metal fabrication equipment.
  • Previous manufacturing, metal building systems, steel fabrication, or construction-related experience.
  • Experience reading trim drawings, blueprints, part details, or production specifications.
  • Experience performing machine setups, tooling changes, equipment adjustments, or basic troubleshooting.
  • Forklift, overhead crane, or material-handling experience.
  • Experience entering production, inventory, or material information into a computer system.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, housekeeping, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
