Roman Catholic Musician / Choir Director

Job Summary

Ladgov Corporation is seeking a qualified Roman Catholic Musician / Choir Director to support the Roman Catholic worship program at Naval Station Newport. The selected candidate will provide musical leadership for weekly Catholic Masses, choir rehearsals, and special religious services.

Responsibilities

• Provide keyboard and vocal musical support for Catholic worship services.
• Lead the congregation in singing and appropriate Catholic worship music.
• Direct and rehearse choir members, vocalists, instrumentalists, and volunteer musicians.
• Coordinate weekly with the officiating Priest/Chaplain to select appropriate music.
• Prepare the choir and musicians for Masses and special services.
• Organize and distribute music and maintain chapel music materials.
• Support special Catholic observances and ceremonies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting Roman Catholic ministries/services.
• Strong knowledge of Catholic sacred and liturgical music.
• Strong keyboard, vocal, performance, and music-direction skills.
• Ability to lead congregational singing and direct a choir.
• Associate's degree in Music or related field + 2 years of specialized religious music experience, OR 3 years of specialized religious music program experience in lieu of the degree.

Work Schedule

The position supports up to 72 events per year:

• Sunday Mass: Every Sunday at 1:00 PM, with arrival by 12:30 PM.
• 52 Sunday Masses annually.
• Choir/Worship Team rehearsal: Approximately monthly or as needed, up to 14 annually.
• Up to 6 special Catholic services annually, including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, All Saints Day, and other observances.
• Additional support may be requested with 48 hours' notice.
