About the Role:

The Rooms Controller plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing room inventory and reservations within a hospitality environment, ensuring maximum occupancy and revenue generation. This position requires close collaboration with front office, housekeeping, and sales teams to coordinate room availability and maintain seamless guest experiences. The Rooms Controller is responsible for monitoring room allocation,and implementing strategies to balance occupancy with guest satisfaction. By analyzing booking trends and adjusting room rates accordingly, the Rooms Controller helps drive profitability while maintaining operational efficiency. Ultimately, this role ensures that room resources are utilized effectively to meet both business objectives and guest expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in hotel operations, front office, or room management roles.
  • Proficiency with property management systems (PMS) and reservation software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a mid-size to large hotel or resort environment.
  • Knowledge of revenue management principles and dynamic pricing strategies.
  • Familiarity with advanced data analysis tools and reporting software.
  • Certification in hospitality or hotel management (e.g., CHIA, CHA) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or train junior staff in room control procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily room inventory and allocation to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Assist the front desk, when needed.
  • Coordinate with front desk and housekeeping teams to ensure accurate room status updates and timely room readiness.
  • Monitor and analyze booking patterns and market trends to forecast demand and adjust room availability accordingly.
  • Implement and maintain room control procedures to optimize room assignments and minimize overbooking or vacancies.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing departments to support promotional activities and special group bookings.
  • Prepare regular reports on room occupancy, revenue performance, and forecast accuracy for management review.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to room assignments and guest accommodations promptly and professionally.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.
