Job Description:
This role will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in collecting garbage or trash or transporting refuse to disposal sites.
Examples of Duties:
- Supervises the collection routes for assigned section.
- Ensures that all personnel are adequately trained to carry out their duties.
- Ensures compliance with safety policies and conducts monthly safety meeting.
- Plans and schedules daily workload and assigns personnel to routes.
- Ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, clean and ready for use.
- Responsible for resolving and responding to environmental complaints and requests from citizens and subordinates.
- Reviews collection routes periodically, adds new annexations to existing routes and make route changes, as necessary.
- Investigates incidents and accidents of personnel & provides draft report to superintendent
- Ensures that the work on all routes is competed daily.
- Completes all reports as prescribed.
- Conducts employee evaluations.
- Coordinates with Fleet Management regarding equipment repairs and scheduled inspections.
- Attends community meetings, as needed.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving work problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates Degree (AS/AS) and 4 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid South Carolina Drivers License.
- Valid Commercial Drivers Permit Class B within 6 months of employment
- Valid Commercial Drivers License Class B within 1 year of employment
