Position Overview
This PRN role involves:
  • Performing VA patient equipment setups, including CPAP and ventilator installations
  • Conducting ventilator maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Supporting gaps in care and COPD bridge programs
  • Conducting thorough patient assessments and providing education on respiratory equipment
  • Monitoring equipment function and communicating findings to physicians
  • Responding to emergency on-call situations for invasive ventilators (as needed)
  • Maintaining accurate documentation for all services rendered

Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Location: Moline, Illinois, serving a patient radius of over 200 miles
  • Schedule: Flexible, coordinated around your availability within office hours (9am-4pm)
  • Weekly Hours: 15-25 hours, Monday through Friday

Qualifications
Required:
  • Active RRT or CRT licensure in Illinois (mandatory for VA contract compliance)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the service area

Preferred:
  • Completion of accredited respiratory care program
  • Previous home respiratory care experience
  • VA healthcare experience
  • Degree in respiratory therapy or related science
  • At least one year of related work experience
  • Familiarity with value-based care strategies

Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry respiratory equipment
  • Capability to perform close-vision tasks
  • Exposure to contagious pathogens; adherence to safety protocols required
  • Occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, and listen as part of daily tasks
  • Compliance with OSHA and PPE policies, including mask fit testing and face-shaving requirements

Compensation & Benefits
  • Per-service payment: $5 to $100 per setup or service
  • Mileage reimbursement: For extensive territory coverage
  • Sign-On Bonus: $500 after completing initial training and first 10 patients or 10 hours; plus an additional $1,000 after completing 50 patients or 100 hours
