At MRHC, employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while building a rewarding career in healthcare.

About the Role:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides high-quality bedside respiratory care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as ordered by physicians and assigned by supervisors. This role is essential in supporting patient respiratory health through assessment, treatment, and monitoring, while ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The RRT also serves as a clinical resource by providing technical guidance and support to less experienced respiratory therapy staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Current Oklahoma State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Current BLS, NRP, PALS, and ACLS certifications or renewal within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory care principles, equipment, and patient safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in acute care hospital settings or intensive care units.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate patients and families on respiratory health management.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide bedside respiratory care to inpatient and outpatient populations in accordance with physician orders and departmental policies
  • Administer respiratory medications and therapeutic modalities safely, monitoring for indications, contraindications, and adverse reactions
  • Perform patient respiratory assessments and reassessments, documenting treatments and patient responses in the medical record
  • Set up, monitor, and manage oxygen delivery systems and respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and safety compliance
  • Obtain arterial blood gas samples as authorized, following physician orders, universal precautions, and required timeframes

Skills:

The RRT utilizes clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate patient respiratory status and determine appropriate interventions. Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and technology is essential for administering treatments and monitoring patient responses effectively. Strong communication skills enable the therapist to collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients and their families about care plans and respiratory health. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are applied to adjust therapies based on patient progress and emerging clinical data. Additionally, organizational skills ensure accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations, supporting continuity of care.
