Work Environment
This position is primarily field-based and typically outdoors on active construction sites in the Atlanta area, with all projects located in and around Atlanta. Technicians usually work 5-6 days per week, with typical days ranging from 8 to 12 hours and weekly hours often falling between 45 and 55, depending on project demands and weather. Schedules are highly variable: shifts may be early morning, daytime, evening, or overnight, and it is common to support night-time concrete pours, especially during Georgia summers. Technicians may work from approximately 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., midnight to 10:00 a.m., or standard daytime hours such as 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility and dependability are critical, as there is "no typical night" and work can shift between nights and days over the course of a week. The role includes monitoring earthwork, backfill, pipe installation, soils work, and random concrete pours, as well as performing proof rolls and soil density testing. The employer provides a company truck and fuel card, and technicians may be allowed to drive company trucks to and from home and job sites; this is a privilege that must be earned and maintained. Some positions involve travel and extended stays out of town, including opportunities to support projects in the Caribbean and the Virgin Islands, where housing and travel logistics are facilitated. The environment combines the close-knit feel of a smaller firm with strong availability and support from experienced technicians, who help cross-train and mentor newer staff. The organization invests in employees by paying for the first round of certifications, providing study support, and offering clear upward mobility so that hard-working technicians can progress beyond entry-level tasks into more advanced responsibilities.
