SARC has been a cornerstone of safety and support in Harford
County. what started as a grassroots effort has grown into a
comprehensive resource center offering shelter, crisis

About the
Role: Residential Advocate (Safehouse)<\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/div>
<\/div>
As a Safehouse
Advocate, you will be the heart of our shelter<\/b> - a
steady, compassionate presence for survivors in crisis. You'll
ensure a safe, welcoming environment while responding to urgent
needs with grace under pressure. <\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/div>

What You'll Do:<\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/div>
Be the first
point of support<\/span><\/span><\/b> for residents
- greeting them, answering requests, and ensuring
their needs are met.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Conduct
intakes and orientations<\/span><\/span><\/b> to help
survivors and their children settle into a safe
space.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Maintain the
shelter's environment<\/span><\/span><\/b> - restocking
supplies, organizing donations, keeping common areas clean,
and conducting security checks.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Respond to
crises with confidence, <\/span><\/span><\/b> including
answering the emergency hotline, safety planning, and
providing emotional support.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Work
collaboratively with on -call staff<\/span><\/span><\/b>
to handle
urgent situations and ensure residents receive the care they
need. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/li><\/ul>

Schedule:<\/b> Every other Saturday and Sunday, 8am -4pm <\/div>

Salary: <\/b>$20.00 per hour, plus a weekend shift differential of $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 8am and 8pm. <\/div><\/span>
Requirements<\/h3>
What You
Need:<\/span><\/span><\/b> <\/div>
Commitment to
supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual
assault.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Emotional
maturity, flexibility, and attention to
detail. <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
Physical
ability to climb stairs and occasionally lift bulky
items.<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li>
A valid
driver's license with a clean driving record (you may need
to drive the agency's van to pick up donated
items). <\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul>
Preferred:<\/span><\/span><\/b> At
least <\/span><\/span> one year of
experience in crisis intervention<\/span><\/span><\/b> or a related
field. <\/span><\/span> <\/span> <\/div><\/span>
