The Behavior Interventionist Safety supports the implementation of the Divisions Multi-Tiered System of Supports MTSS Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports PBIS restorative practices and school climate initiatives to improve student outcomes and maintain safe supportive and productive learning environments. The position utilizes behavioral attendance discipline climate and school safety data to identify trends develop targeted interventions and support continuous improvement efforts.The Behavior Interventionist Safety is a grant-funded position supported through the DCJS Grant.Essential FunctionsStudent Behavioral SupportProvides direct behavioral intervention services to students demonstrating academic social emotional or behavioral concerns.Assists students in developing self-regulation conflict resolution decision-making problem-solving and social-emotional skills.Provides crisis intervention and behavioral de-escalation support as needed.Supports student re-entry following suspensions disciplinary removals or alternative placements.Monitors student progress and adjusts intervention strategies based on behavioral and academic data.School Safety Intervention and PreventionSupports schoolwide initiatives designed to improve school climate student engagement attendance and perceptions of safety.Assists with violence prevention bullying prevention attendance improvement and conflict resolution initiatives.Supports the consistent implementation of the Spotsylvania County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct through preventative interventions and behavioral supports.Implements restorative practices social-emotional learning supports and behavioral interventions designed to improve student self-regulation and reduce behavioral incidents.Supports Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management BTAM intervention plans case management activities safety planning and follow-up supports in accordance with Virginia Code §22.1-79.4 and division procedures and policies.MTSS PBIS and Behavioral Data AnalysisServes as an active member of school-based Multi-Tiered System of Supports MTSS teams.Develops and utilizes behavior data dashboards to identify behavioral trends hotspots and students requiring additional support.Analyzes discipline attendance school climate school safety and intervention data to inform decision-making and intervention planning.Click here to read the full job description for this role.Education and ExperienceRequiredBachelors Degree from an accredited college or universityThree 3 years of experience working in a public school setting in a student support behavioral intervention counseling or related roleAn acceptable rating of prior teaching experience as applicable.PreferredFive 5 years of successful experience working with at risk" andor behaviorally challenged" children in a role that required behavior intervention andor behavior coachingRegistered as a Qualified Mental Health Professional QMHP or Registered Behavioral Technician RBT or similar behavioral support certification.Completion or ability to complete the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services DCJS Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management training.Working With Spotsylvania County Public SchoolsThe financial benefits of working for Spotsylvania County Public Schools include a competitive salary monthly PTO accrual robust healthcare benefit plans enrollment or transition into the Virginia Retirement System VRS with defined contributions and potential employer match FMLA and Short-Term Disability leave Tuition Reimbursement Employee Assistance Programs EAPs and employer paid Life Insurance.To learn more about Spotsylvania County Public Schools and our teams please visit our website athttpswww.spotsylvania.k12.va.us.Employment TermsEmployment may be offered as a 10-Month 200 Daycontract at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day.
