    Safety Coordinator Safety Division Brandywine MD • ID4956 • Full-Time Regular

    Position Summary The Safety Coordinator will assist the Safety Manager by planning, coordinating, and implementing Southlands safety, health, and environmental protection programs, ensuring compliance with corporate safety standards and industry regulations, and promoting a safe, incident-free work environment for employees.

    Position Details

    • Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
    • Reports concerns to safety management.
    • Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting, and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
    • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas, procedures, and recommending corrective procedures.
    • Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues.
    • Ensures cited issues are corrected within the designated timeframe.
    • Maintains all site-required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports, and training logs.
    • Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.
    • Provides emergency response to employees as needed.
    • Documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
    • Serves as a mentor to less-experienced Safety employees.
    • Assists with the development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.

    Requirements

    • Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems, OSHA CFR 1926 standards, or state construction safety regulations.
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
    • Solid problem-solving skills.
    • Solid customer-service and organizational skills.
    • Solid computer skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
    • Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.
    • Travels 40% of the time.
    • Exercises independent judgement and makes decisions as needed.
    • Consults with manager on decisions that significantly impact the company.

    Role Scope

    • This role does not supervise or direct other workflow of others.
    • May mentor less-experienced safety roles.

    Qualifications

    • At least 2 years experience in construction safety management and/or industrial safety management.
    • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations.
    • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
    • Experience in properly documenting accident and incident investigations.
    • Solid computer skills and ability to work effectively in MS Office.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work extended and irregular hours.
    • Bachelors degree in Safety, Health, or Environmental Applied Sciences, or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
    • OSHA 10hr and OSHA 30hr training preferred.
    • CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
    • Minimum 1 year experience in related field.
