SAFETY COORDINATOR

The Safety Coordinator will help lead and elevate our safety culture across our dealerships. Essential Duties

  • Works with current Safety & Compliance vendor to implement recommended improvements.
  • Ensures dealerships are in compliance with safety policies and procedures according to  local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Oversees developed safety programs and that training is being completed by all required employees.
  • Maintains the dealership hazard communication program.
  • Coordinates training programs or media that will promote safety consciousness; teaches safe practices and ensures that they are followed.
  • Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for dealership use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees the administration of the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time and cut back on unjust claims.
  • Studies and analyzes causes of dealership accidents and health hazards and prepares reports for use by dealership personnel and outside agencies.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Attends managers meetings as requested.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work is primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel to different dealerships as necessary.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associates degree and/or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
