ABOUT THE ROLE
The Safety Coordinator II supports CSI field operations with increased independence by conducting jobsite safety observations, identifying hazards, and reinforcing established safe work practices. This role builds on foundational safety knowledge and demonstrates improved judgment in recognizing risks and supporting corrective actions. This position plays a key role in strengthening field safety consistency, supporting compliance with Cal/OSHA Title 8, CSI's IIPP, and project-specific safety expectations.

Essential Functions
Field Safety & Hazard Identification
Conduct routine job-site walkthroughs independently, focusing on active and higher-risk work areas.
Identify both obvious and developing hazards based on work scope and site conditions.
Document hazards, observations, and corrective actions with accuracy and consistency.
Monitor conditions related to Fall Protection, MEWP operations, LOTO, temporary power, and electrical safety.
Reinforce safe work practices and address routine safety gaps in the field.
Escalate complex hazards, high-risk concerns, or unresolved issues to Safety Management.
Support implementation and follow-up of corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in KPA Flex or similar systems with minimal oversight.
Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure closure and communication.
Assist Safety Managers with incident documentation, fact gathering, and preliminary information collection.
Support data quality by ensuring consistency and completeness of field reporting.
High-Risk Work Verification
Review high-risk work documentation (permits, AHAs, plans) for completeness and alignment with established requirements.
Observe high-risk activities including:
Fall Protection systems
Energized work and LOTO
MEWP and forklift operations
Confined space preparation (as applicable)
Trenching, shoring, and excavation controls
Identify gaps or inconsistencies and escalate to Safety Management.
Support pre-task planning discussions when directed.
Training & Engagement
Support and occasionally facilitate portions of toolbox talks or safety discussions under direction.
Reinforce CSI's Safety Leadership expectations and established procedures.
Assist with onboarding and provide informal guidance to Safety Coordinator I personnel.
Promote consistent safety messaging across crews and projects.
Collaboration & Communication
Work proactively with foremen, superintendents, and project teams to understand upcoming work and associated risks.
Communicate hazards, expectations, and corrective actions clearly and professionally.
Address routine safety concerns directly; escalate higher-risk or resistance issues.
Maintain a visible and engaged presence in the field.
Program Compliance
Support implementation of CSI's IIPP, Code of Conduct, SOPs, and site-specific safety plans.
Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable Cal/OSHA Title 8 requirements.
Participate in audits and inspections and support preparation activities.

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Coursework or training in safety or construction preferred
2-4 years of construction or safety-related experience
Prior experience as a Safety Coordinator I or equivalent role preferred
Valid, insurable CA Driver's License
Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification
OSHA 30 - Construction (required or obtain within 6 months of hire)

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate $45.00-$52.00/ hour (Non-Exempt)
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. CSI reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the selected candidate's qualifications.
