Project Scope
The Safety Coordinator will support a Mechanical & Fire Protection contractor on the rehabilitation of a four-story pharmaceutical laboratory facility. This project involves active construction within an existing structure, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols, documentation, and coordination with multiple trades.
The role focuses on maintaining OSHA compliance, conducting site safety oversight, and supporting field teams in a fast-paced environment. The Safety Coordinator will be hands-on in the field, ensuring safety plans are followed while proactively identifying and mitigating hazards.
This position requires strong technical aptitude, mechanical construction experience, and the ability to work extended hours to support an aggressive project schedule.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
OSHA 510 certification
OSHA 30 certification
Mechanical construction experience
Strong technical and digital reporting skills
Additional Requirements
Ability to work 50-60 hours per week
Experience supporting active construction sites
Fireproofing experience strongly preferred
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce site-specific safety plans and OSHA compliance
- Conduct daily safety inspections and audits
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Investigate incidents and near-misses
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports
- Coordinate with project management and field supervision
- Support mechanical and fire protection crews with safety guidance
