Safety Coordinator
Pay Range: $25 -$30/hr, paid weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Location: Peachtree City, GA 30269
Duration: 3-Month Contract, Plus Extension
Summary
Support all environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) initiatives by ensuring compliance with OSHA, corporate, local, state, and federal regulations. This role is responsible for administering safety programs, conducting training, investigating incidents, maintaining compliance documentation, coordinating audits, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
Responsibilities
- Ensure facility compliance with corporate, OSHA, local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Implement and support the Annual Health & Safety Action Plan and corporate EH&S initiatives.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly EH&S meetings, contractor safety orientations, and visitor safety training.
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures throughout the facility.
- Conduct facility inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective or preventative actions.
- Assist with occupational hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety improvements.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Develop, update, and maintain safety programs, procedures, and training materials.
- Deliver safety presentations and employee training as needed.
- Support managers, supervisors, and employees with health and safety questions and compliance requirements.
- Administer the Forklift Safety Program and coordinate annual onsite safety shoe events.
- Promote employee participation in EH&S initiatives and lead by example.
- Report and document injuries, near misses, first aid incidents, environmental events, and property damage.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development and review.
- Maintain EH&S documentation and records within the Powerway document control system.
- Track corrective and preventive actions, safety objectives, and performance metrics.
- Schedule and maintain internal EH&S audits and audit documentation.
- Collect and record Near Miss, SMAT, and Forklift SMAT reports for safety tracking and analysis.
- Prepare reports and maintain safety data using Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of plant-level environmental, health, and safety experience.
- Experience implementing and maintaining EH&S management systems and regulatory compliance programs.
- Professional safety certifications are highly preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
