This is a driving job, not a tech or engineering job. Drivers who roll stops, drive one-handed, speed, or drive with a phone in hand do not pass the road test.
The opportunity
Full-time Safety Driver on the Dallas operations team, reporting to the site operations leads. Ongoing headcount (multiple open seats), 12-month contract that keeps extending for drivers who show up and drive by the book. One fixed shift you pick and keep, paid every Friday.
What you will own
- Run the pre-shift safety check and get the car ready
- Drive the vehicle in autonomous mode on real Dallas streets, monitor what it does, and take over the moment it needs you
- Follow the intervention protocol exactly, on every drive
- Note road events and give the engineers clear feedback that makes the system better
- Handle basic in-car troubleshooting and software updates using everyday tools (GPS, Slack or Teams style messaging)
Qualifications
Required
- Valid US driver's license held for at least 1 year, clean record: no DUI or drug or alcohol driving offenses in the last 5 years
- Driving experience: 3+ years of professional driving, or 4+ years of full-time rideshare or delivery driving, is the ideal; a long clean personal record plus a show-up work history is still worth a screen (the road test decides)
- Uber driver account in good standing with no deactivations (we help set one up), and 25 or older per Uber's rule
- Comfortable with everyday apps: GPS plus Slack or Teams style messaging
- Willing to drive in all weather and on all road types, including highways
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Authorized to work in the US for any employer; no visa sponsorship
- Local to the Dallas-Fort Worth metro and able to work on site; no relocation
Bonus points
- Prior autonomous vehicle, robotaxi, or EV operator experience
- Defensive or safe-driving certifications
- Professional driving instruction, motorsports, or EVOC-trained background
Compensation and benefits
- Pay: $25.00 per hour, W2, 40 hours per week, paid weekly
- Schedule: five consecutive days with weekend-inclusive options; AM 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or PM 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM (Central); you start on the shift you are hired for and keep it; new driver classes start on Mondays
- Contract: 12-month ongoing, on site in Dallas (exact address shared on the recruiter call)
