Together We Innovate. Together We Change. We are seeking a highly qualified Safety Engineer I to join the Safety, Health and Environmental team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is responsible for supporting occupational safety and health programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of safety management systems. The successful candidate will evaluate work environments, processes, equipment, and facility layouts to identify opportunities to prevent injuries, protect assets, and maintain OSHA compliance.
Job Responsibilities- Oversee daily manufacturing safety operations and support compliance with General Industry Safety requirements.
- Partner with Facility Safety Star Point Teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Facilitate onboarding and ongoing safety training for employees.
- Support administration of facility inventory and regulatory compliance processes.
- Participate in SHE Facility Assessments and drive completion of corrective actions.
- Contribute to the Integrated Work System (IWS) SHE Pillar initiatives.
- Manage facility action item tracking and accountability processes.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain safety systems and processes focused on injury prevention and continuous improvement.
- Monitor federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Stay informed of emerging safety engineering practices and technologies that support operational excellence.
Specific Skills- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, or related experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Construction safety experience and familiarity with OSHA 1926 standards preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Experience with statistical analysis, program development, and resource planning.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other business systems.
- Ability to collaborate across functions and influence positive safety outcomes.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and navigate manufacturing facilities.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $72,900.00 - $107,100.00.
