ABOUT THE ROLE The Safety Equipment Technician ensures compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and cleaning personal protective equipment and other rubber goods (sleeves, hot sticks, blankets, line hose ,40 cal suits, switch covers, personal grounds, jumpers, grounds and macks). The Technician conducts performance and operational tests on personal protective equipment, completes test logs and prepares equipment for distribution to field electrical workers across the company. Essential Functions Assist in the cleaning, inspection and testing of safety equipment and prep for compliance testing, validation and deployment to electric field crews Prepare tests by studying test objectives, standards, methods, conditions and equipment Document test outcomes by completing test logs Report test outcomes by collecting data Prepare tested rubber goods for deployment to electrical crews across the Company Identify safety equipment capability and reliability by conducting tests Assist in resolving testing problems by altering testing methods during tests Participate in daily documented THA hazard recognition and prevention of worksite Maintain safety test environment by complying with applicable procedures, rules and regulations Maintain test information database by entering and backing up data Keep test equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns, maintain supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs when necessary Assist in maintaining the inventory of new and existing personal protective equipment including gloves, blankets, hit sticks, sleeves, etc. Ensure accurate and efficient deployment of new and recently-tested PPE to field crews Regular and predictable attendance Other duties as assigned Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location Must understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards ABOUT YOU Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in safety, compliance, inspections or quality assurance-related position is required. Minimum 1 year of experience with inspection, testing and/or quality assurance of electric construction/maintenance safety tools and equipment is required. High school diploma or GED is required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Basic knowledge of electric operations equipment safety inspection requirements Working knowledge of electric construction operations Ability to complete testing and inspection of rubber goods Safety-conscious orientation Advanced knowledge of applicable OSHA and other industry-related safety rules and regulations Proficiency with HS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook Quality and detail orientation Good multi-tasking skills Good communication skills Ability to adapt and embrace new methods WHAT WE OFFER Compensation & Benefits Salary $20.00-$25.00 / hour Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
