This role involves coordinating safety training, investigating incidents, managing fleet safety protocols, and supervising staff to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Develops and implements safety programs to ensure compliance with federal (OSHA), state, and organizational safety standards. - Assesses fleet safety and compliance, recommending changes to improve vehicle and driver safety. - Coordinates repair and maintenance of fleet to ensure vehicles meet safety and operational standards. - Ensures DOT regulations and company policies are communicated and adhered to by employees. - Conducts incident investigations, including accidents and near-misses, to identify causes and implement preventive measures. - Provides and coordinates safety and fleet-related training for employees, including driver safety and equipment handling. - Maintains safety and fleet records, auditing for accuracy and completeness (e.g., driver logs, inspection reports, and training documentation). - Reviews driver inspection reports and logs to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards. - Establishes and enforces safety and fleet policies, ensuring consistent application across facilities. - Inspects facilities and equipment, identifying and addressing safety hazards. - Addresses complaints related to safety violations, improper service, or discourteous behavior from employees. - Other duties as assigned my supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Six months to one year of related experience and/or training in safety or fleet management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience preferred over education. - Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance standards preferred. - OSHA 30 hour certification or the ability to complete same.
