Our client is seeking a mid?level Safety Instructor and Field Safety Professional to support safety training delivery, field safety activities, and established safety programs within a utility and critical infrastructure environment.
This is a hands?on, field?focused contractor role ideal for a safety professional with experience delivering instructor?led training and supporting operational teams. The position reinforces existing safety programs and does not own enterprise safety strategy.
This is a hybrid role with four (4) days per week onsite in Springfield, VA, and a standard 40?hour workweek (Monday–Friday).
Per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card Holders.
Responsibilities
- Deliver instructor?led safety training for employees and contractors (onboarding, refresher, task?specific).
- Provide field safety support through jobsite observations, hazard identification, JSAs, and pre?job planning.
- Coach crews and supervisors on safe work practices and procedural compliance.
- Support implementation of safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, PHMSA).
- Assist with incident investigations, documentation, and communication of lessons learned.
- Help identify training gaps, field safety trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Utilize safety management systems and basic reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of safety experience in utilities, energy, construction, industrial, or high?risk environments.
- Field?based safety and contractor oversight experience.
- Safety certifications (CHST, ASP, CSP, CUSP) preferred.
- FEMA ICS 100/200, incident investigation training a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety/incident tracking systems.
