We are seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team. This role promotes a culture of safety on construction sites. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring a safe working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs in compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Conduct regular site inspections in the field and conduct audits to identify potential hazards and ensure safety compliance
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions
  • Provide safety training and education to employees, contractors, and site personnel
  • Enforce safety standards and regulations, issuing recommendations or corrective actions
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into all phases of construction projects
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including compliance documentation, incident reports, and training logs
  • Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies and ensure proper reporting of safety concerns
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare Job Safety Analysis (JSA's)
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and provide ongoing safety guidance to teams

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to travel to construction sites within the region up to 75% of the time
  • Relevant professional certifications preferred, such as ASP, CSP, or CHST, or ability to obtain certification within the first 12 months of employment
  • Construction safety and industry experience preferred
