Job Overview
The Safety, Maintenance, & Training Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of our vehicle and facility maintenance staff. The CTtransit Waterbury Bus Maintenance Facility is beginning to transition to cleaner, green vehicles. This position involves developing and implementing policies and procedures for mechanics, and other garage staff while overseeing safety protocols in the garage. This position will be key in shaping and enforcing safety policies and procedures that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The role will also involve a strong focus on writing policies, creating comprehensive training programs, and continuously assessing and improving safety practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in safety management, particularly within a maintenance environment, a mechanical background, and a strong ability to support a company-wide safety culture, especially during the transition to cleaner, green vehicles.

Wages & Benefits
Salary $76,000-$82,000 based on experience and qualifications
Expected schedule: 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday Off Sat & Sun, must be flexible for assignments/training on occasion as reflecting transit system operations

Duties
-Develop, implement, and revise safety policies and procedures for both vehicle maintenance and building maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
-Train employees and be proficient in areas such as forklift, commercial tire, hot works, lock out tag out, etc
-Lead safety audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and areas for improvement.
-Create and deliver training programs on various safety topics, including electrical vehicle systems, mechanical safety, building safety, and hazardous materials.
-Attend training and other opportunities for development
-Support the maintenance team with safety protocols related to building and fleet maintenance, such as lock-out/tag-out procedures, SDS compliance, equipment handling, and procedures specifically related to electric vehicle systems.
-Monitor and evaluate safety performance, providing feedback and recommendations to enhance safety culture and operational efficiency.
-Coordinate training with outside providers/vendors
-Assist in daily maintenance operations, including scheduling work orders, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance for the bus fleet, with a particular focus on electric vehicles.
-Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements
-Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or at least 5 years of relevant experience in a maintenance environment with a focus on safety management.
-Proven experience writing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies in maintenance, warehouse, or similar industrial settings.
-Familiarity with electric vehicle technologies, with the ability to create and enforce safety practices for electric vehicle maintenance.
-Excellent verbal, written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
-Moderate computer skills.
-Knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA, and experience with safety audits and inspections.
