Description Weyerhaeuser is hiring a Safety Manager for the McComb, MS Lumber operations. We are seeking an individual who is committed to safety, has a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work closely with the site Leadership Team. The qualified candidate will utilize their comprehensive knowledge of occupational safety and health to ensure the safety of the McComb team and to achieve compliance with applicable safety standards. The Safety Manager, who reports directly to the Unit Manager, will actively participate on the site Leadership team and will lead the development and implementation of safety programs. Critical to this role is a demonstrated ability to influence, lead and role model safety. These skills will be critical in helping members of the leadership team understand how to improve a safety driven culture. This individual will be involved in a broad range of safety management and leadership initiatives including annual planning, budgeting, accountability, and performance management. Key Functions Provide technical expertise on safety and health related matters and assist the leadership team in successfully implementing and managing safety processes. Work directly with the leadership team to ensure safety programs are implemented in their entirety, including written programs, required training, and periodic audits to ensure compliance. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local standards pertaining to workplace safety and health. Coach and support the site Safety Lead Team and other Safety Committees/Teams to ensure effectiveness. Identify and address the site's highest-risks through the site's risk-based safety plan. Actively participate in incident investigations to determine root cause and prevent reoccurrence. Coordinate an effective onboarding process for new employees to ensure their safety. Provide safety-related project management support (e.g., Management of Change). Monitor and support required annual safety training. Audit safety systems and prioritize necessary follow-up by establishing action plans with site leaders. Dynamic and motivated safety professional who will role model safe behaviors and demonstrate caring leadership. Effective administrative skills (e.g., planning, prioritizing and organizing with strong attention to detail). Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with various business groups to accomplish business objectives.
