Job Title: Corporate Health & Safety Manager

Job Description

The Corporate Health & Safety Manager leads office-based safety programs with a strong focus on high voltage substation and transmission line projects. This role oversees safety compliance across multiple project locations, conducts nationwide site visits, and partners closely with project managers who manage on-site safety teams. It is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with hands-on electrical or lineman experience who wants to transition into a corporate safety leadership position, driving OSHA and electrical safety compliance, incident prevention, and continuous improvement in safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage corporate health and safety programs with a focus on high voltage substations and transmission line projects.
  • Conduct site visits approximately three times per month across project locations in the United States to assess safety compliance, identify hazards, and provide guidance to site teams.
  • Develop, update, and manage site-specific safety manuals, procedures, and documentation to ensure they reflect current regulations and project requirements.
  • Oversee OSHA recordkeeping and ensure compliance with OSHA and industrial safety standards across all assigned projects.
  • Support and coordinate with 6-7 project managers who oversee on-site safety teams, providing coaching, resources, and strategic guidance.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce future risk.
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, including NFPA 70E and high voltage safety practices in substation and transmission line environments.
  • Collaborate with safety leadership to align safety strategies, standards, and initiatives across the organization.
  • Manage scheduling and travel logistics for regular site visits, optimizing time and coverage across multiple locations.
  • Utilize digital tools and software, including Microsoft Teams and safety management systems, to complete safety reporting, documentation, and communication.
  • Provide safety training, coaching, and support related to OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE, and other critical safety topics.
  • Contribute to maintaining and strengthening a strong safety culture through visible leadership, clear communication, and consistent follow-through.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical safety, preferably in high voltage substation and transmission line environments.
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage electrical safety standards and practices, including NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures, and appropriate PPE requirements.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial safety compliance, including OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  • Proven experience conducting site safety assessments and developing site-specific safety manuals and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and field teams.
  • Comfort with an office-based leadership role combined with frequent travel to project sites.
  • Practical experience in the electrical or lineman field, with strong familiarity with substation and transmission line work.
  • Ability to work a Monday through Friday schedule during regular business hours.
  • Experience in construction or EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) environments.
  • Familiarity with digital safety management systems and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional safety certifications such as CSP, OSHA 30-Hour, NFPA 70E, NEBOSH, or similar, or a strong willingness to obtain them.
  • Experience in safety management within utility construction, substation, or transmission line projects.
  • Back ground in safety training delivery, including OSHA-focused training and industrial safety topics.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and health and safety practices in complex electrical environments.
  • Previous experience supporting or leading safety programs in high voltage or substation settings.
  • Interest in long-term growth within a safety leadership career path.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage travel schedules, and coordinate across several concurrent projects.

Work Environment

The role is primarily office-based, with a standard Monday through Friday schedule during regular business hours. The position requires national travel to project sites approximately one to three times per month, depending on project needs. Travel can be scheduled flexibly, and the Corporate Health & Safety Manager may choose to visit multiple sites in a single trip to optimize time in the field. The work environment involves close collaboration with safety leadership, project managers, and field teams, using digital tools such as Microsoft Teams and safety management systems for communication and reporting. The organization fosters a strong safety culture, offers flexibility in travel scheduling, and provides comprehensive benefits including retirement programs and performance-based incentives, as well as support for relocation for the right candidate.
