Our client is an established commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal contractor, offering in-house fabrication (including ACM wall panels) and a full-service division.

Job Info:

Our client is seeking a field-based Safety Manager to lead day-to-day execution of the safety program across active jobsites. The role spends the majority of time in the field conducting inspections, coaching crews and foremen, verifying safe work practices, ensuring OSHA and company compliance, and driving corrective actions to prevent incidents and reduce risk across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Be present on active jobsites the majority of the workweek, observing work, identifying hazards, and reinforcing safe practices
• Administer, enforce, and continuously improve safety policies, rules, and procedures
• Conduct routine and special inspections; document findings and verify timely corrective actions
• Lead or support pre-task planning/JHA reviews and toolbox talks, with hands-on coaching for crews
• Own and coordinate safety training, including new hire onboarding and task-specific training
• Partner with project leadership, foremen, and subcontractors to reinforce safe work practices
• Support fall protection and hazard communication programs; verify PPE use and maintain documentation (SDS/MSDS, HAZCOM, site-specific plans)

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience; commercial roofing safety experience strongly preferred
• Field safety inspection, fall protection oversight, and crew coaching experience
• Working knowledge of construction procedures, safety best practices, and OSHA regulations
• OSHA 30 (Construction) required; OSHA 500/510, CHST, ASP, and/or CSP preferred
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to Illinois-area jobsites
• Comfortable working at heights and in active construction environments
