As the Environmental Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below: Key Responsibilities: Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures. Partner with department leadership to develop and establish competency models and career paths for various functional areas in the manufacturing environment. Maintain employee records of participation for all EHS/departmental training and development courses and creates and produces reports accordingly. Responsible for the development, implementation and updating of required written environmental, health and safety programs, operator work instructions and procedures. Responsible for company EHS inspection program of all workplace areas. Manage monthly and annual OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Document timely investigations of accidents and incidents, root cause analysis, and corrective action/preventative strategies based on findings. Plan, organize, and facilitate safety training for new hire and temp employees. Identify, document, and communicate observations of safety concerns and unsafe employee behaviors or issues to Safety Director and departmental managers/leaders. Responsible for Company Hazardous Communication (HAZCOM) program including chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), new chemical review process and electronic filing systems. Ensures all vendors, contractors and subcontractors are fully qualified to perform required services at Daniel Defense including insurance requirements, contactor and vendor safety agreement, and perform all Services in accordance with State and Federal OSHA requirements (including, but not limited to, the requirements incorporation by reference in 29 CFR § 1910.6), the relevant Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations, as well any other applicable requirement(s) related to the performance of Services. Work collaboratively with managers, supervisors, employees, consultants, agency officials and others in an effort to reduce adverse safety, health, property and negative environmental exposures on company property. Contributes and engages in the development, maintenance and reporting of Stormwater, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Hazardous and Universal Waste, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan, and other environmental requirements. Manage the Company's Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) compliance program, including evaluation, preparation, and timely submission of required federal, state, and local reports such as Tier II Hazardous Chemical Inventory Reports and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Form R reporting under Section 313. Maintain supporting documentation, conduct annual threshold determinations, and ensure compliance with all applicable reporting requirements. Manages the company’s Worker’s Compensation Program effectively. This includes a focus on accident prevention, cost reduction, effective case management, return-to-work programs, and similar relative to work related illness and injuries. Maintain confidentiality of records, reports, investigations, and medical information. Provides adequate support, training and development to team members to continuously improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials, including proper classification, packaging, marking, labeling, placarding, shipping documentation, employee training, security awareness, and recordkeeping in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 171–180. Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on risk management; 7 years of Safety management or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Prefer OSHA 30-hour certification. Prefer OSHA 501/511 certification Trainer’s Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry. Understands the complexities of a large organization. Involves others appropriately in consultations and decisions. Read, Interpret, and understand Standard concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to Environmental Health and Safety regulations (OSHA, ANSI, EPA, DOT) American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification. Working knowledge of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), including Sections 302, 311, 312, and 313, with demonstrated ability to evaluate chemical inventories, determine reporting thresholds, prepare and submit Tier II and TRI Form R reports, maintain required documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable EPA, state, and local reporting requirements. Great attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills. Ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics regarding safety and environmental aspects to executive leadership, management or supervisory personnel. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines. Competent with computer software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
