Job Description

The Safety Manager serves as a visible leader and driving force behind a strong safety culture, partnering closely with employees and leadership to navigate evolving regulations, champion continuous improvement, and proactively lead initiatives that keep people safe while supporting ongoing operations. This role combines hands-on field presence with strategic program development to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and foster an engaged, accountable approach to safety across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular jobsite visits, inspections, and audits to assess working conditions, identify hazards, and verify compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide coaching and guidance during site visits to help field personnel and supervisors improve safety practices and decision-making.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with field personnel and supervisors to encourage open communication and collaboration on safety matters.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture that emphasizes engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement rather than reactive responses.
  • Identify existing and potential hazards, analyze safety trends, and implement practical, effective solutions to reduce risk.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and compliance programs, ensuring all required reports and logs are current and properly organized.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop and track corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with leadership to continuously improve safety processes, policies, and procedures across the organization.
  • Serve as a visible, approachable resource for employees at all levels, providing guidance, answering questions, and supporting safe work practices.

Essential Skills

  • 5-10+ years of construction safety experience, with electrical construction experience highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Experience conducting safety trainings, orientations, and toolbox talks in a construction environment.
  • Proven ability to lead incident investigations and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify hazards, analyze safety trends, and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey safety expectations and procedures.
  • Strong coaching and training skills to effectively guide and develop employees on safety topics.
  • Ability to influence others through relationships rather than authority alone.
  • Organized and detail-oriented approach to maintaining safety documentation and compliance programs.
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently in the field and in the office.
  • Comfort interacting with employees at every level of the organization, from field personnel to leadership.
  • Professional and approachable demeanor that earns respect and encourages open dialogue about safety.
  • Genuine drive and passion for safety and protecting people at work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) designation preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent field preferred.
  • Electrical construction safety experience is highly valued and considered a strong asset.
  • Experience building and sustaining a proactive, engagement-focused safety culture.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership on safety initiatives.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based in a construction environment with frequent jobsite visits, including electrical construction projects. The Safety Manager will spend significant time in the field conducting inspections, audits, and trainings, as well as time in an office setting maintaining documentation and collaborating with leadership.
