Job Title: Safety Manager

Job Description

This Safety Manager role leads site-wide environmental, health, and safety programs within a growing medical manufacturing facility. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, you will drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and reduce risk as the site expands operations and output.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide safety management and serve as the primary owner of the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) program for the manufacturing facility.
  • Participate as a key member of the Site Leadership Team and provide strategic guidance on safety, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs aligned with OSHA regulations and other applicable standards.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification, risk reduction, and behavior-based safety rather than reactive incident response.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence on the manufacturing floor and actively engage operators, supervisors, and leaders in daily safety practices.
  • Conduct incident investigations and perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) to identify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead risk mitigation activities, including job safety analyses (JSA), machine safety assessments, and contractor safety oversight.
  • Implement and monitor OSHA compliance programs, including training, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations teams across multiple shifts to ensure consistent safety practices as the facility scales and expands.
  • Influence and coach team members at all levels to drive behavioral change and embed safety into daily operations.
  • Prepare and maintain safety metrics, reports, and documentation to support leadership decision-making and regulatory readiness.
  • Support safety culture development initiatives, including behavior-based safety programs, safety observations, and recognition efforts.
  • Operate independently without direct reports while effectively coordinating and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Support safe operations within cleanroom and controlled manufacturing environments for antiseptic foam and wound care products.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Safety Management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a site-level safety or EHS program, not limited to a support or QA-adjacent function.
  • Proven ability to maintain a strong floor presence and effectively engage operators and frontline staff.
  • Experience driving a proactive safety mindset focused on hazard identification and prevention.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and their application in a manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience with OSHA compliance and safety program implementation.
  • Experience in incident investigation and conducting thorough root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Competence in risk mitigation activities such as job safety analysis (JSA), machine safety, and contractor safety management.
  • Ability to operate independently, without direct reports, while influencing across operations, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to drive behavioral change on the manufacturing floor.
  • Sense of urgency and accountability in addressing safety issues and implementing improvements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated environments such as medical device, pharmaceutical, or ISO-certified manufacturing.
  • Exposure to cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting multi-shift operations or facilities undergoing significant scaling and expansion.
  • Safety-related certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or OSHA credentials.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required with strong, relevant experience.
  • Experience with safety culture development and behavior-based safety programs.
  • Experience in antiseptic foam or wound care product manufacturing is a plus.

Work Environment

The role is based in a cleanroom and assembly manufacturing environment focused on antiseptic foam and wound care product production. The facility is in a strong growth phase, having expanded from one to two shifts and adding a weekend shift, while this position operates on first shift only. The environment is dynamic and scaling, offering significant exposure to site leadership and high visibility across operations. Heavy floor engagement is required, with frequent time spent in production areas, cleanrooms, and around manufacturing equipment. The setting provides a contract-to-hire opportunity with direct impact on site culture, operational stability, and long-term safety practices, backed by a global healthcare-focused organization.
