Safety Manager
Job Description
The Safety Manager will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs that align with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards within a construction-focused environment. This role conducts detailed risk assessments related to chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation, and ensures strict compliance with safety protocols through regular site inspections and audits. The Safety Manager leads incident investigations, recommends and tracks corrective actions, coordinates and delivers safety training, and maintains accurate and organized safety documentation. This position offers the opportunity to build expertise in safety management within the rapidly growing data center industry.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific safety programs that comply with OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
- Create and update safety plans to address evolving project requirements, construction phases, and regulatory expectations.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to chemical handling, cleanroom construction, and specialized equipment installation.
- Monitor safety compliance by ensuring contractors and subcontractors follow established safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Perform regular site inspections and audits of construction areas to identify unsafe practices, equipment misuse, or environmental risks.
- Lead root-cause analysis for accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, and develop clear, actionable corrective and preventive measures.
- Track and verify implementation of corrective actions to ensure long-term improvement in safety performance.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions on topics such as hazardous materials, confined spaces, emergency response, and construction safety best practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety training programs and adjust content and delivery methods as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety audits, permits, incident reports, training attendance, and compliance certifications.
- Ensure all safety documentation is organized, accessible, and meets regulatory and internal audit requirements.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, including engineers, project managers, and quality assurance personnel, to integrate safety considerations into all phases of construction.
- Provide safety guidance during planning, design, installation, and commissioning activities for cleanrooms and specialized equipment.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly to on-site personnel and support a proactive safety culture through regular engagement and feedback.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes, procedures, and site practices and recommend enhancements to leadership.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in developing and implementing comprehensive safety plans and site-specific safety programs.
- Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments and identifying potential hazards in construction and industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and pharmaceutical industry safety standards and regulations.
- Skill in monitoring safety compliance and performing regular site inspections and audits.
- Ability to lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and safety violations and to recommend effective corrective actions.
- Experience coordinating and delivering safety training programs on topics such as hazardous materials, confined spaces, and emergency response.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, including maintaining safety audits, permits, incident reports, and certifications.
- 0-2 years of experience working as a safety specialist or in a similar safety role within a construction company.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers and project managers.
- Strong communication skills to clearly convey safety requirements and expectations to diverse on-site personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor"s degree in Safety or a closely related field.
- Experience with construction safety in complex environments such as data centers, cleanrooms, or facilities with specialized equipment.
- Familiarity with safety considerations for chemical handling and cleanroom construction.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and OSHA 510 certifications listed as relevant qualifications.
- Background in delivering safety training and promoting a strong safety culture on construction sites.
- Knowledge of safety practices specific to data center construction and operation is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment while maintaining high standards of safety compliance.
Work Environment
The position is based on-site at a data center facility in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin, within a large-scale construction and installation environment. The Safety Manager works primarily at an active data center construction site, regularly moving between construction areas, cleanroom build-out zones, and locations where specialized equipment is installed. The role involves frequent field presence to conduct inspections, observe work practices, and engage with contractors and project teams. Work is performed in a dynamic, project-driven setting where safety, reliability, and adherence to regulatory standards are critical. The environment includes typical construction site conditions, such as varying noise levels, ongoing equipment operation, and changing work areas. This role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly growing data center industry, collaborating closely with engineering, project management, and quality teams to embed safety into every phase of construction and facility development.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $48.00/hr.
