Data Center Safety Professional
Job Description
This Safety Manager role supports a major data center project for an anticipated duration of 18 months. You will work closely with field teams across civil/site and vertical construction environments to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and coach crews on best practices. The position focuses on planning, implementing, and continuously improving safety programs for large-scale construction and data center operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across civil/site and vertical construction environments.
- Identify safety risks, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and track follow-through to completion.
- Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed incident reports.
- Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of safety programs for construction and data center projects.
- Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to field personnel and coach teams on safe work practices.
- Maintain safety documentation, logs, and compliance records in an accurate and organized manner.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to drive accountability for safety performance.
- Inspect equipment, vehicles, and job sites to verify safe working conditions and compliance with safety standards.
- Accompany personnel during post-incident protocols and support return-to-work or corrective action processes.
- Collaborate with field crews to reinforce a proactive safety culture and ensure consistent adherence to safety procedures.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and regularly to all levels of the project team.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of construction safety experience.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- Ability to obtain the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification within 90 days, as required for data center work.
- Strong understanding of site work risks, including excavation, utilities, grading, slip/fall hazards, and heavy equipment operations.
- Experience working in field/site environments such as grading, utilities, civil/site development, or large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to influence, coach, and build strong working relationships with field crews and project stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed safety documentation and reports.
- Effective communication skills for delivering training, conducting investigations, and partnering with project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, audits, and hazard assessments in active construction environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to large commercial, infrastructure, or data center projects is a plus.
- Experience supporting multiple project sites or large, complex construction programs is beneficial.
- Familiarity with MSHA and DOT safety requirements is advantageous.
- Experience in construction safety for civil/site and vertical construction environments is preferred.
- Comfort working in partnership with general contractors and trade partners on high-profile projects.
- Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and project demands while maintaining a strong safety focus.
Work Environment
This role is based at a major technology company's data center. You will work in active construction environments, including civil/site development and vertical construction, alongside general contractors and multiple project teams. The typical schedule includes five weekdays plus a half-day on Saturday, with flexibility available when needed and opportunities for overtime. The work involves regular presence on construction sites, conducting inspections, participating in field meetings, and delivering on-site training. The culture emphasizes safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, with the added benefit that breakfast and lunches are sometimes provided onsite.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.08/hr.
