Safety Manager Needed ASAP, Portsmouth, OHLong-Term 1099 Contract | Weekly Pay | Heavy Civil + Demolition ProjectSheakley is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a long-term project in Portsmouth, OH supporting the construction of a new water treatment facility and the safe demolition of an existing water plant.This is a strong opportunity for a safety professional with heavy civil, concrete, underground piping, water/wastewater, or demolition experience who is looking for steady hours, weekly pay, and a 1 to 2 year project.Position DetailsJob Title: Safety ManagerLocation: Portsmouth, OHStart Date: ASAPDuration: 1 to 2 YearsEmployment Type: 1099 ContractorCompensationPay Rate: $50 to $54 per hourPer Diem: No per diem available Pay Frequency: WeeklyScheduleHours: 50 to 60 hours per weekSchedule: Monday through Saturday, project dependentShift: Day ShiftProject ScopeThe Safety Manager will support a complex, multi-phase heavy civil project involving:Construction of a brand-new water treatment facilitySafe demolition of an existing water plantConcrete structuresUnderground piping systemsWater and wastewater infrastructureActive construction and demolition site safety oversightThis role is responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance, identifying and mitigating site hazards, supporting field leadership, and helping drive a strong safety culture across all trades on site.Key ResponsibilitiesEnforce OSHA standards, site safety rules, and company safety policiesConduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessmentsLead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and site safety meetingsMonitor high-risk activities, including demolition, concrete work, excavation, underground piping, and heavy civil operationsIdentify unsafe conditions and work with field leadership to correct issues quicklyInvestigate incidents, near misses, and safety concernsMaintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and inspection recordsPartner with project leadership to support continuous safety improvementRequired QualificationsOSHA 30 certification requiredMinimum 5+ years of construction safety experienceExperience in water/wastewater projects, heavy civil construction, concrete work, underground piping, or demolitionStrong working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety best practicesAbility to work on active construction and demolition sitesAbility to work 50 to 60 hours per week as neededStrong communication, documentation, and hazard recognition skillsIdeal BackgroundThe ideal candidate has hands-on safety experience in heavy civil environments and understands the risks associated with demolition, concrete work, underground utilities, and water/wastewater infrastructure.
