Safety Officer Objective
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining Million Airs Safety Management System (SMS). This position ensures compliance with all safety standards by overseeing document control, SOP updates, fuel QC oversight, ERP upkeep and training, and ramp safety surveillance. The Safety Officer will work closely with location leadership, corporate safety, and network teams to promote a proactive safety culture and mitigate operational risk.
Responsibilities and Duties
Implement, maintain, and oversee the Million Air Safety Management System (SMS), including hazard reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and safety promotion.
Maintain accurate document control across all safety-related manuals, procedures, and forms; ensure SOPs are reviewed and updated regularly.
Oversee Fuel Quality Control (QC) compliance, support locations in fuel safety procedures, and ensure QC documentation remains current and accurate.
Maintain the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) including documentation, contact lists, drills, and training requirements.
Lead monthly safety meetings with all locations to review safety trends, REDTAGs, observations, and corrective actions.
Communicate all safety concerns, network trends, and REDTAG notifications to Houston corporate leadership in a timely manner.
Develop, maintain, and oversee the company-wide Risk Management Plan, including risk assessments for operational activities.
Manage and support fatigue risk procedures to ensure compliance and employee well-being.
Conduct routine ramp safety surveillance, facility safety inspections, and follow up on corrective actions.
Prepare and deliver daily safety topics, toolbox briefings, and ongoing safety content to reinforce workplace safety.
Support SMS and safety-related training for new hires, supervisors, and location personnel.
Disseminate safety information, alerts, lessons learned, and procedural updates throughout the entire Million Air network.

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to Corporate Safety and/or the General Manager depending on location structure.
Work Environment
This position works both indoors and outdoors, with regular exposure to active ramp areas, moving aircraft, hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, equipment, and machinery.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and other environmental hazards. Work may be required outdoors in all types of weather. Position requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is an exempt position. This position may require working evenings, weekends, and scheduled company holidays. Periodic travel is expected for this position to support audits, training, meetings, and safety oversight across the network.
Education, Experience, and Eligibility
Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) years aviation safety, FBO operations, or SMS experience. High School Diploma or equivalent; additional safety certifications. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a background check and random drug screen.
