Safety Professional – Night Shift

Location: Aiken, SC (secure federal industrial site)
Department: Environment, Health & Safety
Schedule: Night Shift
Classification: Exempt
Salary: $110,000–$150,000 annually

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Safety Professional – Night Shift to support construction, maintenance, and operational activities at a highly regulated federal industrial facility. This role provides hands-on safety oversight during night shift operations, ensuring compliance with federal safety requirements, OSHA standards, and project-specific EHS programs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and exercising stop-work authority when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous night shift safety oversight and field presence.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, safety observations, and proactive interventions.
  • Review job hazard analyses (JHAs) and work packages to ensure hazards are properly identified and controlled.
  • Lead toolbox talks, pre-job safety briefings, and safety coaching.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and communicate findings to site leadership.
  • Perform safety inspections and audits; track and report corrective actions.
  • Interface with field supervision and subcontractors; enforce safety requirements and exercise stop-work authority when needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of safety experience in a federal, nuclear, heavy industrial, or government construction/maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 and federal contractor safety requirements.
  • Experience with JHAs, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work independently on night shift.

Preferred:

  • Night shift safety experience at a large, regulated industrial facility.
  • CSP or ASP certification.

Certifications / Requirements

  • OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Construction).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain site access credentials.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED and security clearance preferred.
