PRST is seeking an experienced Shipyard Safety specialist to support operations at a busy yacht and shipyard facility in Alameda. This role is critical to maintaining a safe work environment for crews performing vessel repair, fabrication, and maintenance. This position is a temp to perm opportunity.
The safety specialist will perform jobsite inspections, oversee confined space and hot work safety compliance, and act as a first responder for any jobsite injuries or incidents. This position works closely with supervisors, subcontractors, and shipyard personnel to enforce safety regulations and minimize operational risk.

Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections across shipyard projects, vessels, and shop areas.
Serve as a First Responder for jobsite injuries or medical incidents.
Certify spaces for hot work and confined space entry on vessels and vessel components under repair.
Perform air monitoring and atmospheric testing prior to work activities in enclosed or hazardous spaces.
Follow and execute written and verbal direction from the Certified Marine Chemist regarding confined and enclosed space safety procedures.
Provide daily inspections of confined, enclosed, and isolated spaces to identify hazards to personnel or equipment.
Ensure all spaces cleared for entry meet safety requirements and are compatible with the work being performed.
Monitor and enforce proper use of PPE, ensuring equipment is available and in safe working condition.
Conduct specialized safety inspections, including:
Fall arrest systems
Confined space entry
Scaffolding
Lead abatement areas
Document findings using inspection reports and coordinate with supervisors to correct any deficiencies.
Ensure workers are properly trained and certified for the tasks they perform.
Promote compliance with company policies and regulatory safety standards.
Track and report near misses, incidents, and safety discrepancies according to the Field Safety Manual.
Support ongoing improvements to the shipyard Safety & Environmental Program.
Previous experience in construction, shipyard, marine, or industrial safety environments.
Knowledge of confined space entry, hot work permitting, and atmospheric testing procedures.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and hazard identification.
Experience performing jobsite inspections and safety reporting.
Ability to work with diverse crews including contractors, vendors, and shipyard personnel.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
OSHA 30 Cert - REQUIRED
