Job Title: Safety Specialist

Job Description

The Safety Specialist supports a large-scale industrial construction project in Jeffersonville, IN, focused on building a solar panel manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe work environment by promoting safety best practices, conducting on-site oversight, and ensuring consistent compliance with OSHA standards throughout all construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site safety resource for all construction-related activities on the project.
  • Identify, evaluate, and correct potential safety hazards in real time to prevent incidents and injuries.
  • Lead and support safety training efforts, including fall protection, lockout/tagout procedures, and general construction safety practices.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and incident reporting to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Educate and coach employees and contractors on safety protocols, health and safety expectations, and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with a diverse, multilingual workforce, including international contractors, using translation tools and maintaining patience and professionalism in all communications.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA requirements and internal safety policies at all times.
  • Promote a strong safety culture on-site by modeling safe behaviors and encouraging proactive hazard reporting.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety considerations into daily planning and execution of construction activities.

Essential Skills

  • 3-4 years of experience in industrial or commercial construction safety.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors on-site.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, active construction environment.
  • Experience conducting safety training in areas such as fall protection, lockout/tagout, and general construction safety.
  • Proficiency in identifying, evaluating, and correcting safety hazards in real time.
  • Experience with safety audits, inspections, and incident reporting.
  • Knowledge of health and safety compliance requirements and OSHA standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 300 certification (preferred).
  • OSHA 510 certification (preferred).
  • Experience working with multilingual teams or international contractors.
  • Comfort using translation tools to support clear and respectful communication.
  • Ability to coach and educate diverse teams on safety protocols and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, patient approach when addressing safety concerns.
  • Interest in long-term growth opportunities and potential future travel assignments.

Work Environment

This role is based on a large industrial construction project in Jeffersonville, IN. The position supports the construction of a solar panel manufacturing facility and involves working on an active construction site with heavy equipment, ongoing building activities, and varying outdoor conditions. The core schedule runs Friday through Sunday from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM, including a one-and-a-half-hour lunch period. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring regular site walks, field observations, and direct interaction with tradespeople and contractors. The project offers the opportunity for long-term growth and, upon successful completion, potential travel assignments on other major industrial projects, including future work at large-scale facilities in other states. Safety-focused, professional attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected at all times on-site.

This is a Contract position based out of Jeffersonville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
