Are you passionate about safety and enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring company safety programs and policies. This includes ensuring that the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry-specific regulations, and that periodic safety audits, safety checks, and risk assessments are conducted. The Safety Specialist will also be responsible for creating and coordinating safety training programs, managing workers' compensation, and promoting a culture of safety among all employees.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor company safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, state, local, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits, safety checks, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate employees about safety procedures, workplace safety, and the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Manage the company's workers' compensation program, including processing claims, coordinating with insurance providers, and implementing return-to-work programs.
  • Assist in the development of safety policies and procedures and ensure they are communicated and implemented across the organization.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents and compile statistics for management review.
  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for the organization in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety is a top priority for all employees.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety-related role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance, safety audits, safety checks, and risk assessments.
  • Experience with lock out tag out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Proficient in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Experience managing workers' compensation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety (EHS) practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential safety hazards and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
