**Job Summary **

The Safety Specialist will oversee all safety activities performed at Twin Rivers Technologies, Quincy, MA, with direction from the Safety Manager. They will promote and maintain a safe work culture, implement safety programs, and have an active presence in the manufacturing environment to identify hazards to mitigate risks. They will comply with local, state, and federal regulations alongside Twin Rivers Technologies’ safety policies. The Safety Specialist interfaces with all employees, contractors, and site visitors regarding plant safety matters, compliance, and concerns.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Assure that proper safety and environmental standards and precautions are followed.

  • Provide training on various safety programs such as lockout tagout, line break, hazard communication, and confined space.

  • Conduct new hire orientations and contractor safety orientations as required.

  • Lead monthly Safety Action Team meetings.

  • Perform near miss and injury investigations.

  • Provide training on various safety programs such as lockout tagout, line break, hazard communication, and confined space.

  • Manage LITMOS portal for online training.

  • Perform safety audits to address safety noncompliance's and oversee corrective actions.

  • Standard Operating Procedure & Policy review to ensure OSHA standards are being met, and the general industry standard is used.

  • Assist with Job Hazard Analysis review.

  • Create One Point Lessons and Safety Alerts to educate staff on safety programs.

  • Monitor Benchmark to review Behavior Observational Surveys (BOS) and Near Misses.

  • Perform other duties as requested or required.

Formal Education / Certification Requirements

  • Four-year degree (BS/BA) in related field of study.
  • Hands-on experience conducting safety audits and leading safety meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute safety programs that engage employees and enable a safe work culture.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MassDEP, and applicable local EHS regulations.
  • Experience completing near miss and injury investigations.
  • Interpersonal skills (e.g. in leading corrective actions; leading EHS projects and teams).
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Travel Requirements

Infrequently. May be required for training.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment and Conditions

While performing these duties, of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling stooping crouching, crawling and climbing during the day. The employee may lift and move items over 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to wear required PPE at all times. Work in confined spaces, climb refinery towers and storage tanks using tall ladders.
