We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Specialist to support and enforce safety programs across active construction sites. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and working closely with field teams and management to minimize workplace risks. The Safety Specialist will report directly to the Safety Manager and play a key role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily and weekly job site safety inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA standards
Lead and facilitate tailgate (toolbox) safety meetings with field crews
Participate in and contribute to weekly safety meetings with management
Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution
Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis
Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and logs
Support implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs and procedures
Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all job sites
Collaborate with supervisors and project teams to promote a culture of safety awareness
Assist with safety training and onboarding of new employees
Qualifications:
2 to 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required)
40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (required)
Experience conducting safety inspections and incident investigations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Spanish language skills are a plus
Work Environment:
Primarily field-based on active construction sites
Exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, and construction-related hazards
Must be able to walk job sites, climb stairs/ladders, and stand for extended periods
