SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION Identify areas within the facility that can utilize the hierarchy of safety to prevent injuries by educating associates, identify deficiencies and creating a culture of safety prevention and ownership. Utilize leading indicators of safety to review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury caused by physical or ergonomic factors. TASKS OF THE POSITION - Conduct job hazard analysis and utilize safety principles to prevent injuries.
- Conduct safety training and education programs with associates to increase knowledge and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs, Safety Data Sheets, and other regulatory compliance documents.
- Coordinate a daily safety review involving associate input, hazard recognition, and injury prevention throughout the production floor.
- Communicate with team leaders, supervisors, and management all safety concerns and problems for immediate resolution.
- Inspect processes and equipment for safety efficiency and proper safeguards to prevent injuries and illnesses.
- Identify any hazards posing an immediate harm to associates and impose a stop work initiative. Inspect production, office, and shipping areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
- Assist in investigate accidents to identify causes and implement proper safety techniques for prevention of future incidents.
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of emergency action plans and procedure
- Monthly environmental audit for ISO 14001 compliance. Make recommendations to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Assist in the coordination of weekly safety meetings, as appropriate Maintain first responder certifications, postings, and equipment to meet regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Plant safety audits.
- Maintain appropriate levels of Personal Protection Equipment.
- Assist in safety statistics and generate daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
- Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory.
- Participate in activities to include 5S, Kaizen, Quick Hits, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This job has no direct reports. QUALIFICATION (EDUCATION / TRAINING) High School Diploma, pursuing a 4-year college degree, or completed a 2- or 4-year college degree. 2-3 years of previous manufacturing experience in safety or industrial hygiene.
